It’s still a work in progress! Our log cabin to be built from the ground up by my husband. We started this adventure back in 2014! Here we are in 2021, with a gorgeous but not yet finished log home that has been a complete labor of love. The first thing we did after purchasing the land was to buy a backhoe and a Wood-Mizer portable sawmill. My husband and I decided we wanted complete privacy and chose to place the build spot in the middle of our acreage. He created a very long driveway in the woods and then cleared where he would build. For a considerable amount of time he cut down pine trees off the property and then milled them into the logs for the cabin. Every year we celebrate the cabin‘s milestones. Have I mentioned we are doing this out of pocket? Of course, there are exceptions sometimes there is a need to take out a small personal loan e.g. when you need a new piece of machinery to get the job done. As of today, we are on hold due to the harsh winter conditions. Looking forward to the spring when we can tackle our fieldstone chimney and fireplace! But that’s another post.😉
Why the name Rock Heart Cabin, you ask? Over the years our 3 boys would find rocks at the land in the shape of hearts and proudly give them to me. I keep every single one and plan to incorporate all those hearts into our rock fireplace.
Seen your firewood making video , I have a much improved system US 9,840,022 B2 no wedge no hands alignment ,ect .
Love it already! Patience of a saint for sure. Lots of time and energy. There’s always a construction project in our life, my advice, expect the unexpected. Can’t wait to see the progress!
Love this Lisa! So glad you are sharing the progress of rock heart cabin. You’ve been patient and Roland has done an amazing job on your beautiful log cabin, I am so proud of him. I can’t wait to see all the heart’s incorporated into the fieldstone fireplace! This will be great memories to look back on.
